Kennedy finance numbers drop off
Democrats had high hopes for congressional challenger Bill Kennedy. In his first fundraising quarter, Kennedy nearly matched Denny Rehberg in money raised - $115,000 to $120,000, respectively. But it looks like Kennedy's money train has jumped the tracks. His October quarterly report was released today and shows an anemic $64,000 raised. By comparison, that's even less than Monica Lindeen raised in the same period two years ago.
Rehberg's most-recent numbers have not yet been released, but should be available in the next couple of days.

How much coporate PAC money did Dennis raise?
Lueschbeg -
Corporations are prohibited from contributing to PACs, so none of the PAC money he raised is corporate.
Still, Lueschbeg raises a serious question: what percentage of Denny's contributions come from PACs? Beyond that, what percentage come from Montanan voters?

Is this really a "serious question." It may be an interesting question, but c'mon, in our extremely open campaign finance environment, is receiving regulated PAC dollars really a "serious" issue?
To humor you, I pulled the July quarterly reports for Rehberg and Baucus (Baucus' October quarterly is not yet posted on the FEC's site.)
Rehberg had raised $47,000 from Other Political Committees, which includes PACs, in the quarter, or 40% of his total funds of total funds for the quarter. Baucus raised $696,687 for Other Political Committees, or 43% of his total funds for the quarter.
And by the way, to date, Kennedy has raised close to $12,000 from PACs. Is PAC money only bad when Rehberg takes it?
Data on Montana contributors would take some time to compile, but if you pull it together, I'd happily post it on the site.

I guess you don't really understand what PACs are. When Dennis received $1,000 on 9/20/07 from "Plum Creek Timber Company Good Government Fund", that obviously is a corporate PAC. I never said corporations contributed to the PAC. I asked how much corporate PAC money did Dennis raise. The answer is $161,800 through Spetmeber 30.
According to the Billings Gazette about 90% of Rehberg’s money came from Montana.
I think it is a bit disingenuous to say that he got $161,800 from “corporate PACs” – since that number includes things like association groups like the Homebuilders Association or the Realtors, Unions, issue advocacy groups like the NRA, and others.
By the way no discussion about PAC money in Montana politics would be complete without mentioning the Max “King of PAC Money” Baucus who has taken over $1.1 Million in PAC money for the cycle.
MT Red is right on. Lueschbeg - it's clear to me that you were attempting to propagate the popular misconception that PAC money is corporate money. If you want to go through the reports of Denny Rehberg and Max Baucus and isolate any PAC money that has a corporate connection, I'll happily post it on this site.
Dennis received $1,000 on 9/20/07 from "Plum Creek Timber Company Good Government Fund". You're right, there is clearly no corporate connection there at all.
Lueschberg
Kennedy received $1,000 on 06/27/2007 from "First Interstate Bank PAC Inc"
Kennedt received $500 on 09/07/2007 from "MDU RESOURCES GROUP"
What is your point?
